The Four Settings of the EPCC Core Training

As educators, we live in four worlds simultaneously. We are a part of a community where we live and work - that community, the people in it, the challenges, and the culture. We are, of course, in our happy place with the children we serve each day, the educational setting. We also are in partnership with the families of the children we serve. Building that partnership is our responsibility. It presents us with a wide range of challenges and rewards. Lastly we have our own cultural and educational perspectives, both personal and professional.

How do we best live in these four worlds, doing the best we can for all involved? EPCC’s Core Training takes the participant on a journey beginning with the Community, moving into the Educational setting, and into the Family setting and finally to the Self. We know that all our work begins with each of us, our cultural perspectives, education, and values. However, we have chosen to begin with the Community and work our way to the self to build trust and connections with other participants and the trainers.

Our goal is for each of the participants to complete the training with a better understanding of how all four of these settings weave together to form the fabric of a successful educator who can support others from the community inward while fulfilling their full potential.
